Wu-Tang, Meth and Red going on separate tours
Why the hell the Wu-Tang Clan can’t just all get together and tour is beyond me. When I saw them in Chicago last December the RZA was absent. Why? Because he was off in San Diego doing a solo show. There was no other possible night he could have been doing a solo show in San Diego. Now, if I choose to spend sixty bucks to see them THIS December it will be without Method Man, the group’s most dynamic live performer, who will be off galavanting with Redman in support of Blackout 2. (Seriously, what is with rappers and sequels? Do people just not have the originality to come up with new album titles?)
Anyway, Wu-Tang’s got a pretty sizable tour lined up. It kicks off November 29 in Portland, OR (that great Mecca of streetwise hip hop) and will continue on through mid-January. Supposedly Meth will pick up the tour when he is done with Red, which should be just in time for U-God’s holiday trip to Disney World with his family or Inspectah Deck’s walkabout in the Australian Outback. (Hehehe…now I have mental pictures of these things that should continue to bring me joy throughout the weekend.)
Also, this tour is supposedly in support of 8 Diagrams, the most recent Wu-Tang album that dropped about a year ago. When I saw them the month after it was released they played literally nothing off the album so who the hell knows with these guys.
Wu-Tang is unpredictable.
